Described as ‘one of the leading cellists of his generation’ Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt joins the CSO to perform with and lead the orchestra in a programme featuring Haydn, Mendelssohn and Schumann.
Since winning the inaugural Christchurch-based Adam International Cello Competition, Schmidt has appeared with some of the best orchestras in Europe, including the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in Paris and Prague Philharmonic.
This is one of two Christchurch Symphony Orchestra concerts during the Festival. Both concerts feature great classical and romantic period masters.
