We've been beaten by mother nature for one performance this weekend – but only just!
This Thursday’s opening night performance of Rita and Douglas, starring Jennifer Ward-Lealand and Michael Houstoun, has been postponed after this week’s “once in a generation” snowstorm. A new performance is scheduled for ticket holders on Saturday at 1pm.
Flights for actors and crew all came through; delivery of the grand piano for Michael Houstoun was on track. But cancelled Cook Strait ferries meant the set, being transported down after the Taranaki Arts Festival performance of the show, is cooling its heels in Wellington.
All other shows this weekend are going ahead as scheduled.
Christchurch Arts Festival Director Philip Tremewan said, “We tried everything to avoid postponing but unfortunately this time, mother nature was against us. The great news is that everyone has pulled together to offer a replacement show so hopefully no one misses out.”
All ticket-holders are being contacted directly.
Ticket transfer or refund information
The Christchurch Arts Festival reluctantly reserves the right to change the schedule by amending dates or replacing shows.
Ticket holders will receive an automated email advising them of the date change. To request a refund on ticket price, ticket holders must respond to the automated email by midnight on Friday 19 August. Transaction or service fees are not refundable.
All tickets will automatically be transferred to the Saturday matinee performance at 1pm unless a refund has been requested.
