Pouwhenua takes this concept and embodies it in a very commercial, contemporary form – the billboard. Leading Ngai Tahu artists Priscilla Cowie, Caine Tauwhare, Morehu Flutey-Henare, Reihana Parata, Te Mairiki Williams and Mark Adams have been invited to create a billboard design in response to the theme “Te Haka a Ruaumoko — The Earthquake’s Dance”. Pouwhenua continues a concept borne out of the Wanaka Festival of Colour with artists having three days to create their work. These will be displayed in the Events Village for the duration of the Christchurch Arts Festival and Rugby World Cup 2011. Enter Hagley Park from the Armagh Street gates to see these creations.
