et al.: That’s obvious! That’s right! That’s true!
The collective et al. have exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and, with their critically acclaimed installation the fundamental practice, were New Zealand’s representatives at the 2005 Venice Biennale.
The collective’s major works are installation based, with a strong industrial aesthetic and socio-political themes: recent works have addressed fundamentalist practices and ideological schemes, and their impact on societies.
The artists’ approach is to use fiction and appropriation to mirror various political and belief structures.
