Since making his first recording in 1960, Christchurch-born pianist and composer Mike Nock still remains at the forefront of Australasian jazz.
His extensive background playing with some of the world’s best musicians, from Johnny O’Keefe to Dionne Warwick, gives his live performances a rare depth and versatility. He is joined in the trio by two of Australia’s elite young creative musicians, bassist Ben Waples and his brother, drummer James Waples. The Trio’s most recent album, An Accumulation of Subtleties, was awarded Best Australian Contemporary Jazz Album at the 2011 Bell Awards.
